Rhythmix operates under a Creative Commons Attribution License. This means users can copy, distribute, transmit and adapt your sounds as long as they credit you. By operating under such a license rhythmix hope's to increase interaction and collaberation of music samples and online mixing among all music genres helping the industry to continually evolve.

Click on the 'Upload Samples' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page.
Attach your music sample by clicking the 'Choose File' button and locating the sound file on your computer.
Fill in the Sound Name, Attribution - (If the file is not yours, who or where did you find it) and give it some tags seperating each word by a comma and a space. e.g (Funky, Beat)
If you know the samples BPM value (Beats per Minute) please insert it. If each sound has an accurate BPM it allows other users to locate and mix music samples of a similar speed, making the mixing experience a lot more fun and managable.
The second is to mix with samples of your own choice...
Click on the 'Create Mix' link. Here you have the opportunity to search and browse through all of the music samples available.
When you have found a sample that you want to use in your mix, simply click the 'USE' button.
The sample will be stored at the top of the page. Repeat the process for other desired samples. When you have selected all of the samples you want to use in your mix (maximum 8) assign the desired keys to trigger each sample when mixing in co-ordance with the key.
When you are happy with your selection select the 'Mix Button' and show us your stuff!
The downloaded mixer updates itself whenever you change any samples for each mix so you only have to download the file once. To change a mix, alter the samples saved on the website and select mix. When you next return to the downloaded mixer type in your unique id followed by the mix number to ix the most recent mix.

Using Rhythmix
How do I listen to music samples?
To view all of the samples found on Rhythmix click on the 'Browse Samples' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page. To listen to the samples click on the play button situated next to the sample name.How do I download music samples?
To download music samples click on the 'Browse Samples' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page. To download samples RIGHT CLICK on the download link situated next to the sound name and click SAVE LINKED FILE TO DESKTOP.How do I upload music samples?
To upload music samples you must first have registered an account and be logged in.Click on the 'Upload Samples' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page.

How do I Mix?
To mix click on the 'Mix Music' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page. This page displays 2 options. The first option is to mix one of the pre-set mixers specific to different genres. These mixers already have music samples assigned to them which cannot be changed.The second is to mix with samples of your own choice...
How do I Mix samples of my own choice?
To mix samples ofyour own choice click on the 'Mix Music' option located under the MUSIC drop down menu at the top of each page.Click on the 'Create Mix' link. Here you have the opportunity to search and browse through all of the music samples available.

Save and download mix's
Rhythmix allows you to download a mixing application to your desktop that is directly linked to your saved mix's. To download the mixer select the download option on one of the three mix pages. This takes you to a download page where you are given a unique id number. Open the downloaded file and type your mix number in the field provided followed by either 1, 2 or 3 depending on which mix you want to mix.(e.g if your unique number is 5 and you want to mix your 2nd mix you would type '52').The downloaded mixer updates itself whenever you change any samples for each mix so you only have to download the file once. Mixing other users mixers
To mix other users mixers, select the browse mix's option in the music drop-down menu. Here you can search through all of the other users mixers. To mix one select the 'Rhythmix' link situated next to the mix name. This will load the mixer.Can I record my mixers
You cannot record the mix's you create using the mixing application. Rhythmix try's to promote and allow users to practice their rhythm and mixing skills in a real-time environment similar to that of a real DJ, so each mix is unique.Where can i find music samples on the web
There are a number of websites on the web that operate under a Creative Commons Licence and contain large numbers of safe music samples to download and use. Some good sources are ccmixter.org and freesound.com
